when travelling down a road, 2wd, at over 2500rpm usually, or going down a hill, there seems to be a noise comming from the area under where you put your feet. It almost sounds like a bearing, its hard to explain the noise, not high pitch or anything. it is 4x4, but turned off

It's nothing to worry about. HSTs all do it in high range. I would call it a whining noise. ....

As Billy mentioned, the hydro whine and also perhaps some gear from the C range gears at that particular rpm or when dragging without load. ....

ok, its not the hydro wine thats for sure. I dont think its right though. i compare the sound to a box fan (computer fan) when it starts to wear out it makes that vibration noise. i think it has something to do with the output to the front axle, not positive though. oh, my pto wont shut off either, its not electrical, i think there is a stuck spool in the pto valve? ....

Ok, the noise is (or was) the driveshaft shield going to the front axle. Quite loud actually. the PTO problem was a stuck spool right behind the solenoid. ....
